Banners of Craft Lodges in Hertfordshire (Continued)

Alexander Woods Lodge No: 8661

The lodge takes its name from RW Bro Colonel Alexander Woods, MBE, TD, DL, Provincial Grand Master of Hertfordshire from 1963 to 1974. One of the last acts of Colonel Woods, prior to relinquishing the office of Provincial Grand Master, was to give permission for the lodge to adopt his name and use his crest as the lodge badge which is clearly depicted on the banner. The motto "Fortis In Procella" means "Strength in Adversity". The Banner was made by Bro. Joseph Savage

At the consecration of the lodge, on 5th December, 1975, gifts were received from many quarters including the following, which had belonged to the late Colonel Alexander Woods and given by his Family: a Volume of the Sacred Law, IPM Collar, and past masters' Apron.

The lodge is now closed and the banner is at Fleet House.
