The lodge was consecrated on 8th October, 1964.

 

The central portion of the banner is dominated by a portrait of a man, possibly 15th to17th century, judging by the attire. It is believed to be a depiction of the head of King Henry VIII. The connection comes from the fact that in 1539 King Henry granted a charter to make Hemel Hempstead a market town. It is said that when he visited Hemel Hempstead with Anne Boleyn he stayed at 'The Bury' in Gadebridge Park, all that now remains of that building is the charter tower next to the church.

 

The banner was dedicated 14th April 2005.
