Banners of Mark Master Mason Lodges in Hertfordshire (Continued)

Latimer Lodge No: 962

This lodge was consecrated in 24th October 1936. The banner is of red silk fringed at the base with gold braid. The central part of the banner depicts the remains of an “ancient tree” locally known as the “Latimer Elm” and under its shelter Bishop Latimer, the Bishop of Worcester is reputed to have preached to the people. He was later burned after trial for heresy, along with Ridley and Cranmer.
