The 21st of July 2010 marked a historic and significant date in the history of British Freemasonry. On that day the Ancient and Masonic Order of the Scarlet Cord was Inaugurated at Freemasons’ Hall, Great Queen Street, London, the first Masonic order to be inaugurated in the British Isles in almost three quarters of a century. 

A Roll of Honour Scheme was established for those Provinces, Conclaves and members who wanted to become Founders of the Order.

The Scarlet Cord was originally set up in the early part of the 20th century and its roots lie in the provision of charity. The District known as the Province of the Chilterns, which incorporates Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, has a banner (left) which was dedicated February 2015. The logo on the banner indicates the Provincial name and a Red Kite in flight as suggested by the Provincial Grand Summus being a logical emblem of the area of the Chilterns. The individual Consistories do not have banners
