Banners of Craft Lodges in Hertfordshire (Continued)

Dacorum Lodge No: 8631
It was hoped to associate this Lodge with the town of Hemel Hempstead so the name was taken from the Dacorum Hundreds area in which the town is situated. Many members of London Lodges had moved into the area and the Founders, some of them newcomers and some from local Lodges, petitioned for a new Lodge feeling there was scope for it. It was consecrated in 1975 by RW Bro G M Halsey, Provincial Grand Master. The Crest includes a Hart and two local river bridge landmarks.

The banner was dedicated 1st October 1980.  The design was first suggested by W.Bro. Cyril Aikman of a bridge over a river.  The reason for this suggestion still remains uncertain.  Bro. Malcolm Newcomb then submitted several sketches and presented the design of arches and buttresses with the lodge name interwoven within the overall design. The banner was embroidered and presented by Mrs G Peerman the wife of a founder.
