Banners of Craft Lodges in Hertfordshire (Continued)

St Augustine's Lodge No: 8579

St. Augustine's Lodge was founded when it was realised that several members of the congregation of St. Augustine's Church, Broxboume, were also members of various local lodges. The first meeting took place in 1973, and at the Consecration on 23rd October 1974, twenty-two founder members were present. The ceremony was performed by the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Guy Halsey.

The church of St Augustine in Broxboune features in the crest of the lodge, on correspondence and also as the central part of the design on the banner, surrounded by laurel leaves. The banner was designed by W. Bro John Snelgrove PAGStdB. The names of the founders are also included on the banner which was produced and dedicated on 7th April, 1986.

The banner is now held at the Provincial Office, the lodge having held its last meeting on 9th October 2023 and is awaiting erasure at a future Grand Lodge meeting.
