St John The Evangelist Preceptory No: 281
The Preceptory was consecrated on 14th December, 1936.
The centre shows an eagle with a halo and relates to the title given to St John of ‘The Eagle of Patmos’ and is a commonly used emblem.
The motto in Greek has had different translations. Modern Greek translates as ‘Children Love Others’, but it has been said that historically it would have meant ‘Brotherly Love’. [This was said by a non-mason Greek Scholar]
